Cibo - meaning "food" in Italian - is a project three generations in the making. Growing up in an Italian household where some of his most cherished family memories occurred with one of Nonna's famous pizzettes in hand, chef-owner Alex Fegaras recognized from a young age the role that food can play in bringing people together, and felt inspired to turn food into a career. His admiration for his Nonna's classic Italian flavours and her focus on simple ingredients led him to Italy, where he spent five months cooking in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Tuscany. Alex returned to Waterloo Region hoping to blend the classic Italian flavours that he had loved so much as a child with the modern techniques that he had learned abroad. Using fresh ingredients sourced directly from local farmers at the St. Jacobs Farmers' Market, Cibo Streetery is the perfect combination of old and new - classic Italian flavours "just like Nonna used to make", but with a modern twist.
